The Board of Directors of Special Pals have selected Becky French as the new Executive Director of the organization.
“We are thrilled to add Becky to the Special Pals team,” said Melissa Houser, President of the Special Pals Board of Directors. “Her passion for animal rescue and her experience with animal care will help us continue to grow our lifesaving mission in Houston.”
French joins the Special Pals team with 14 years of animal rescue and nonprofit organization experience both in Houston and in Washington, her home state. “In Washington, the capacity for taking in animals is completely different,” she says. “Shelters up there accept lots of animals from outside of their immediate area, and that is more challenging for us in the Houston metro area because our animal population is so massive.”
Most recently Becky French was the Clinic Director for Rescued Pets Movement in Houston, and her previous work with rescues and veterinary organizations brings a new skillset to the team. “When you think you’ve seen it all, you haven’t,” says French. “The severity of cases here can be traumatic, and I’m looking forward to continuing to make an impact and watch those cases become less frequent.”
Erin McCollum, who served as acting Director, will continue at Special Pals and transition into a new leadership role in the organization.
