Walk With a Friend

Are you an experienced dog owner who knows how to work a leash?

Meet up at the shelter for the Special Pals "Walk With A Friend" every Sunday afternoon. We are calling on volunteers to put on their walking shoes and come help us take the dogs for an evening stroll. We're serious about the walking shoes too... rain boots are also a great idea, but no flip-flops or open-toe sandals, please!

Special Pals volunteer orientation is not required to participate in this program!

Registered volunteer? Sign up for a Walk With A Friend shift through the Volunteer Hub.

Our goal is to get every dog out of their kennel for a hearty walk more often. Frequent walks help shelter dogs begin to look forward to people coming into the kennels, to socialize dogs that have been with us for quite some time, and to give the pups a change of scenery.

If you have an hour to spare, grab your water bottle and please come join us! We will stay on Special Pals property as we walk, and we will provide the leashes. Volunteers age 12 and up are welcome, but all minors must attend with an adult, with a one-to-one minor-to-adult ratio.

Parking is limited, carpooling encouraged!
