Special Pals is participating with shelters all across the nation for Clear The Shelters on Saturday, August 18,
Adoption fees are reduced to $20 to help Clear The Shelters after a busy summer.
Special Pals is teaming up with NBC Universal for another annual Clear The Shelters event. Other Houston-area community partners supporting the adoption event include Telemundo Houston, 104.1 KRBE, Mega 101, KPRC 2, Houston PetSet, The Greensheet, CrimeStoppers, and the Children’s Museum of Houston.
During this special adoption event, adoption fees are reduced to $20 on most adoptable dogs and cats. Special Pals will also stay open extended hours, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, to allow more visitors to
meet our adoptable animals.
Getting adoptable pets into homes is crucial this time of year, when shelter crowd with accidental litters and abandoned strays. “Special Pals has been over capacity since late April,“ said Elizabeth Trick, executive director at Special Pals. “Last year dozens of dogs and cats went home during our Clear The Shelters event, and we hope we see many more adoptions on August 18.”
From playful youngsters to sweet seniors, pets from Special Pals go home fixed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. Adoption fees will be $20 on most dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies at Special Pals, but pure-bred dogs and puppies are exempt from this special fee.
Potential adopters should bring their ID, copies of the vet records for their current pets, and a copy of their landlord’s pet policy if they rent their home. Find out more about adopting from Special Pals by visiting our Adoption information page.
