Need gift ideas for the people on your nice list? We’re taking 12 days to showcase 12 ways to help Special Pals this holiday season. See them all below!
1. Send Santa Photos to your friends and family
Join us at the shelter on Sunday, December 3 for our third annual Pet Photos with Santa! Bring your whole family – pets included! – and step inside our Winter Wonderland. Make a $10 donation and our elves will take your family photo and send it to you just in time for your holiday greetings! Hope to see you there – RSVP now on Facebook.
2. Use AmazonSmile for your shopping
You’re already doing a little gift giving on Amazon, right? Make sure to shop with our AmazonSmile link and we will earn a portion of your purchase. AmazonSmile works in conjunction with Amazon Prime and Amazon Pantry too – if the items in your cart are eligible, Special Pals will get a donation. Easy!
3. Give Red White & Rescue Calendars
Our second Red White & Rescue Calendar is here! Our 2018 calendar partners with first responders from 12 local agencies in Katy, Houston, Fulshear, and the surrounding areas. Get yours for $20 at the shelter, or online for $25 with free shipping! Click here to purchase.
4. Gift a Special Pals T-shirt
Have you seen our t-shirts? There are many styles to choose from, all designed by animal lovers, for animal lovers! Each one is just $20 – buy yours at the shelter or online on Facebook.
5. Pick a pal from the Angel Tree
Here’s your chance to play Secret Santa for one of the animals at Special Pals! Pick a pal off our tree, get them a gift from their wish list, and return it under the tree before Christmas Eve! Read more about the Angel Tree right here.

7. Take Kevin home from Raising Cane’s
Every holiday season, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers creates a holiday plush puppy to spread Christmas cheer and benefit local animal organizations. This year, two local Raising Cane’s are donating their net plush puppy proceeds to Special Pals! Stop by Raising Canes #99 at 6015 Hwy 6 N and Raising Canes #326 at 1740 N. Fry Rd. to take home the puppy version of Kevin from the family holiday flick Home Alone 2. Kevin is available while supplies, so hurry in for this cutie!
8. Give Back with Bravelets
Jewelry is always a great gift, and 10% of each Bravelet sold comes right back to Special Pals. We’re partial to the Original Leather Bracelet in red or teal, but we encourage you to get creative! Choose from bracelets, necklaces, charms, and scarves all with a simple mantra: Be Brave. Click here to shop Bravelets.
9. Connect your shopping cards
Here’s an idea that helps year-round: connect your Kroger Plus card and Randalls Remarkable card to Special Pals! For every purchase you make – from milk and eggs to the perfect Christmas ham – we’ll receive a percentage as a donation.
Visit KrogerCommunityRewards.com and log in with your Kroger Plus card to connect your Kroger Plus card to Special Pals. Randalls shoppers can visit customer service at any Randalls store and give them our organization number 1620 to add to your card.
10. Purchase a Special Pals gift certificate
Gift certificates can be used for our low-cost clinic services like annual shots, spay and neuter surgeries, and heartworm and flea preventative medications… or use it towards the cost of an adoption or boarding services at Special Pals! Visit the shelter during open hours to pick up a few as stocking stuffers.
11. Gift a Pet Portrait
Pet portrait artist Ashley Reid paints pals with equal parts whimsy and soul. She will also donate 10% of her commission to the animal organization of her client’s choice… like Special Pals! The portraits of Holly Mittens, Charlotte, and Winston above all came with donations to Special Pals. Check out her work at www.ashleyreid.net and tell her we sent you!
12. Donate on behalf of your loved ones
This gift is thoughtful and helpful all at once. Make a donation to Special Pals for family members, friends, and even your pets. Perhaps honor a loved one or a pal you wish was spending Christmas with you this year. However you give, know that you are helping Special Pals continue to save lives in Houston. Donate via PayPal, and make a note of who we can thank for the donation.
