Volunteer Procedures and Policies
Volunteer policies and procedures are currently undergoing changes in order to allow more volunteers to help in more ways! We appreciate your patience.
Special Pals has some of the best volunteers around, but we are always looking for more! We would love to have you share your time and talents with us.
Please understand that our mornings start out with cleaning and feeding our shelter friends. If you choose to volunteer before 12:00 you will need to be a part of the AM team. This team cleans cages, feeds, sweeps, mops & does dishes.
You’re more than welcome to come after 12:00 and be a part of the PM team. This group may walk dogs, bathe animals, and engage in more playtime activities.
Volunteers are required to schedule their shifts at least a week in advance. Please bring your completed application and waiver to your training.
Volunteers age 12-15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Volunteers age 16-17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during training but can volunteer alone after training is complete.
Thank you for your understanding and we hope you will join us and be part of the team!
